Examines the history of the 1977 legislation known as the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) and answer the question of “How the CRA could be responsible for the financial crisis 25 years later”? Republicans looking for cheap money and Democrats looking for cheap votes, combined to create an atmosphere of oppressive regulations which offered rewards to those financial institutions willing to go along with the politics, all the while leaving the taxpayers holding the bag.
