The Founders

1776 meets 90210. The average age of the Framers of the Constitution was 32 in 1789. The Revolutionary War began in 1775, 14 years earlier. Many of The Founders were Teenagers at that time: High School and College age. History calls these great figures our “Founding Fathers” and every portrayal of them is as “old white men in powdered wigs”. But, these reflect their later years only and fail to tell the story of who they were in the most critical hour of the birth of a nation. They were not “fathers” they were… THE FOUNDERS.

The Founders will tell the story of the Revolutionary War and the failures of the Articles of Confederation, through the eyes of these young, aggressive, brilliant, and passionate youth as they forged the second greatest document in human history: The Constitution! Young, hip, cool, and sexy! The power of youth to capture the imaginations of the millennial generation and reveal a never before seen understanding of just who these people were, presented in a culturally relatable modern pattern, but using the exact texts of their recorded words and deeds in a historically accurate narrative.

Actors will be cast between 17-25 years of age, to reflect the movie and TV methodology of a ¾ flashback technique. 25% of the film will be with aging makeup to show The Founders in their 30s, while 75% of the content will be reflected in the preceding years at their actors’ approximate true age and the age of The Founders in the Revolutionary War period. Actors cast will be signed to continue to play their rolls in the TV series and not recast, as is often the case when a film becomes a series.

The sets, costumes, and stages used for the feature length movie will be preserved and used to launch a History Channel (or other such) weekly TV series for these characters and the continuing narrative. Knowing the truth that every political debate we have today has already been debated before, and that the fight to preserve liberty from generation to generation requires eternal vigilance, the episodes will take from the modern headlines and cast the stories back to their historical roots. The topics are endless and only the aging actors will result in a shorter season count of less than 10 years.
